MCRP 3-11.1A Commander's Tactical Handbook contains reference material frequently used to organize, plan, and conduct Marine ground combat operations by small unit leaders functioning at the company level or below as well as all other marine leaders.

The information presented in this publication serves as a guide on tactics, techniques, procedures found in various doctrinal publications such as MCWP 3-11.1: Marine Rifle Company (under development). It also includes instructions on troop leading steps & five paragraph order format for company level operations.

In addition to offensive & defensive operations such military operation other than war like counterinsurgency operations are discussed along with specific tactical operation including relief in place; passage of lines; linkup; infiltration; convoying etc.

Fire support general information is included which covers fire support planning & coordination tips along with quick fire support plans plus call for fire elements & procedures that can be used during battle situations.
