The Nursing Fundamentals I subcourse is designed for individuals who are beginning their study of nursing or seeking to refresh their foundational knowledge. The course covers essential topics such as basic human needs, communication skills, stress management techniques and transcultural factors that influence healthcare delivery.
Students will learn how to care for adult patients by understanding the principles of patient hygiene and practicing advanced techniques such as active and passive range-of-motion exercises. Additionally, they will be introduced to concepts related to environmental health which can impact both patients' well-being as well as nurses' safety.
Throughout this course students will also gain an understanding of universal body substance precautions (UBSP), which aim at preventing transmission of blood-borne pathogens like HIV/AIDS or Hepatitis B virus within healthcare settings. They'll learn about different modes through which these diseases can spread so that they can take necessary measures while providing care.
Upon completion of this 6-lesson subcourse students would have gained 12 credit hours towards their professional development goals. This comprehensive training program equips them with essential theoretical knowledge along with practical skills needed for delivering quality healthcare services.
