Apparatus for Transformation by Condenser Discharges

(Rated 11 times)

At a glance..

This work was begun already in 1889. This type of apparatus is identified with Tesla as certain as the law of gravitation is with that of Newton.

The details..

In this book excerpt, Nikola Tesla discusses his work on the apparatus for transformation by condenser discharges and damped waves. He explains that he began working on this type of apparatus in 1889 and it has since become identified with his name. Despite claims from others, he asserts that no one else could be considered a wireless expert like himself.

|n describing the principle behind the invention, Tesla notes that it involves charging a generator with a condenser to produce vibrations which can then be manipulated as desired. He goes into detail about various devices incorporated into this process such as spark gaps and quenched spark gaps, which were improvements upon earlier designs.

Tesla also laments how other inventors have taken liberties with his inventions without crediting him properly. For example, Marconi added two wheels to an oscillator design where there was only one wheel before but claimed it was something new when really nothing had changed except its appearance.

Despite these setbacks,Tesla remains proud of what he accomplished through this particular invention. He believes that oscillations produced using this method are continuous anyway if designed correctly so there's no need for inefficient equipment or antennae radiating energy rapidly.Tesla concludes by saying Professor Wein's theory may be beautiful, but ultimately impractical because once scientifically-designed oscillators replace current technology, the theory will become obsolete.
