Fire Cartridge - US Patent
At a glance..
Fire Cartridge – US Patent, teaches the reader how to make casing and the pyrotechnic composition of ammunition, designed to be fired from any hand gun and can set the target material on fire. A must read for any ammunition enthusiast.
The details..
Fire Cartridge by Ralph H. Allen is about overcoming adversity by providing a charge adaptable to any shell casing that can be inserted into any conventional hand weapon for initiating combustion of the target material even if it's damp or wet. The powdered pellet material must be mixed and formed prior to pressing in the cartridge case with 800 p.s.i pressure.
The device consists of any conventional cartridge casing 1 with cap 2 containing primer 3 on its center; standard glue 4 applied inside cap 2 for reception of pellet 5; open end sealed with waterproof composition 6 after pressing in pellet 5.
Two compositions were devised: Composition No 1 consisting of antimony sulphide, barium nitrate, lead styphnate tetracine magnesium oxide & F33D (Ferric oxide 51%, Zirconium 49%); Composition No 2 comprising Barium nitrate Red phosphorus TNT Aluminum Oxide.
The advantage while insuring combustion also ejects at low enough velocity so as not to disturb or scatter the targeted materials making this device great assistance especially for those lost or separated from companions.
